Advising for AC
All UC Berkeley undergraduates (admitted after fall 1991) must fulfill the AC requirement in order to graduate. The AC requirement is fulfilled by taking a pre-approved course of at least 3 semester units (or 4 quarter units). Courses must take substantial account of groups drawn from at least three of the following: African Americans, indigenous peoples of the United States, Asian Americans, Chicanos, Latin Americans, and European Americans.
Undergraduate advisors are a crucial resource for students who are navigating completing their AC Requirement and getting more involved on campus and with the AC Center! The AC Center hopes to support advisors with thorough information about the requirement, but also with opportunities for advisors to connect accross campus around important issues.

Arising out of powerful student organizing who sought to see themselves and their communities refelcted in UC Berkeley curriculum, the AC Requirement has a rich history and significance on this campus. As the only university-wide undergraduate graduation requirement, the AC Requirement plays a pivotal role in the undergraduate curriculum.
