The Community Engaged Scholarship Fellow

The Community Engaged Scholarship (CES) Fellow is a one-semester 50% appointment (stipend and fees), beginning Spring 2018 . The CES Fellow will have the opportunity to work with UC Berkeley faculty, local community organizations and UC Berkeley students within the American Cultures Engaged Scholarship (ACES) program http://americancultures.berkeley.edu/collaborate/aces-student-projects. The ACES program embeds cutting-edge community-engaged research and scholarship into the university's 'diversity requirement,' deepening the value and meaning of 'diversity studies' in service of social justice. The CES fellow will be asked to create multimedia storytelling derived from the content within these faculty-community-student partnerships and projects, such as http://media.journalism.berkeley.edu/projects/2014/20140320_bart/. However, in a curriculum rich with 'stories to tell' and projects to showcase, the CES fellow will have the opportunity to choose areas that deepen their own areas of interest. Ultimately, the CES fellow will support a core ACES goal, which is to deepen the public's understanding of powerful social justice education when coupled with those in our communities working on our most pressing social concerns.
