About the Position
In consultation with the staff of the American Cultures Center, and the University Library the Wikipedia Peer Consultant will:
- Hold regular office hours in Moffitt Library and be available, in-person and online, to coach UC Berkeley students who are editing or learning to edit Wikipedia pages
- Communicate the norms and expectations of the Wikipedia community to first-time editors (including UC Berkeley students and faculty)
- Develop the infrastructure and a training plan for future Wikipedia peer consultants.
Location: Online
Start/End date: June 1, ends August 14 (end of summer sessions)
Required Experience
- Strong Research and organizational skills
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Extensive experience writing and editing Wikipedia pages
- Experience interacting with the Wikipedia community
Preferred Experience
- Experience with peer mentoring
- Experience with library research
- Experience using social media tools (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) for an organization is a plus
- Experience web design using platforms such as Wordpress or Drupal
